» Crab Derby under way

The third-annual Bandon Crab Derby began July 1 and runs through Sept. 6. Bandon Crab Derby organizer Dave Schradieck will throw a total of 120 tagged crabs in the bay throughout the summer. Those who catch the tagged crabs and report their catch at Tony’s Crab Shack are eligible for $100 in cash and other prizes. Drawings will be held July 26 and Aug. 9 and 23 at Tony’s Crab Shack.

The big drawing will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 6. The first-place winner can win up to $1,000, and the second-place winner can win up to $300.

Bumper stickers are for sale at Tony’s Crab Shack, Bandon Bait & Tackle, Bandon Coffee Cafe and Bandon Beach Vacation Rentals to help raise money for the event.
