A Hole in One on No. 14 will win you $25,000. And, one lucky amateur will take the swing of a lifetime at a $1 Million Shot. These contests and more are part of the fun planned for the second annual Bandon Golf for Health Classic tournament benefiting the Southern Coos Health Foundation.
A few slots remain for player sign-ups — as individuals, four-person teams, and as Preferred Team sponsors — for the four-player Scramble set for Saturday, July 25, at Bandon Crossings Golf Course, just south of Bandon. To register, go to:
www.bandongolfclassic.org or call 329-1040.
The event is a fundraiser for Southern Coos Health Foundation, a charitable nonprofit supporting quality healthcare and health education through Southern Coos Hospital in Bandon.
The tournament begins with player sign-ins at 8:30 a.m. and the driving range will be open. A challenging putting contest and a continental breakfast will start shortly thereafter.
The shotgun start scramble will begin at 11:30 a.m. The tournament will be followed by an awards barbecue, and then one lucky player will take a shot to win $1 million, paid at $25,000 per year in a 40-year annuity.
A festive post-tournament awards barbecue is planned. Prizes will be awarded for both men’s and women’s longest drive and closest to pin, in addition to the winning teams.
Additional prizes and gifts will be raffled during the awards ceremony and an oral action will be held, according to a press release.
The individual entry fee of $100 includes breakfast, greens fee, cart and the barbecue. A Preferred Team entry of $500 includes all of the above for four players, plus four tickets to the sponsors’ thank you party Friday, July 24, at Old Bandon Golf Links.
Anyone interested is invited to the party, which will begin with a Horserace golf event. Signups for the Horserace ($5) will begin at 4:45 p.m. with tee-off at 5:15 p.m. The party starts at 6 p.m. Tickets to the party cost $15 unless included with sponsorships.
Chivaroli and Associates Insurance Services are returning as the event’s platinum sponsor. Sterling Savings Bank returns as a gold sponsor. Silver sponsors are Structured and MDG Medical.
Advantage Dental is sponsoring the continental breakfast; Oregon Medical Labs is sponsoring the awards barbecue and Amerinet is sponsoring the Friday night sponsor’s party.
The hole in one is sponsored by Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield and Bain Insurance with Bain Insurance sponsoring the Million Dollar Shot.
Additional event sponsors are Bandon Inn, McKesson and Owens and Minor.
Tee sponsors and Preferred Teams also assure the success of this friendly and “fun-raising” event.
